How I cracked the code for taking my coaching program to $80,000 per month

And just to be clear, this is revenue is from cold traffic. That is, people who invested in my coaching did NOT know me prior, and most invested within 72 hours of seeing my marketing.

In this article, I show you the 3 easy steps I used to scale my business so that you can copy it for your coaching business too.

My Big Coaching Problem (Uh Oh!) and Why You Should Change Your Model Too

When I started consulting, I had just left my job as an advertising copywriter. And compared to working for a living, consulting was the ‘bomb!’

Until that is, I started to get clients.

Once I hit 10-clients, I literally had no time to do anything else. If I wasn’t on the phone answering questions from a client, I was busy creating their marketing… or sending them a report… or preparing for a meeting to talk to their staff.

And that’s when I realised that the 1-to-1 model was great for them, but not for me.

So one night I sat down to work out a way to reduce my workload, without reducing the results for my clients.

Well, 3 weeks later, my plan was finished. And I started implementing… discussing it with my clients… and adjusting… until I had a system of helping my clients without it robbing me of a life.

Today it’s what you might see called “one to many coaching.”

You might even think that a “one to many” business model may be impossible for you to run in your business. And you might be right.

But then again, “1-to-1” doesn’t really work either. I mean, what’s the use of earning all that money if you can’t get the time and space to enjoy it, right?

Something had to change. And it was me.

The next issue was then to scale up and be able to help lots of clients. Hundreds even. Today, I have 762 people in my coaching program called “Fast Client Formula.”

And I can take thousands more.

So how then do you create marketing which allows you to scale up?

STEP 1: HOW TO ATTRACT 50-CLIENTS IN 50-DAYS:

Have one marketing system.

The fact is, you just need a simple system with one traffic source only, and if you want to add more traffic sources later on, you can. But just focus on getting one right, make it profitable, then it makes sense to go for a second one or maybe even a third one.

As always, the simplest systems work best.

Here is how I and my fellow colleagues get extraordinary sales results without the 10 traffic sources and the much-hyped, brain-frying sales funnel.

Here's how it's done.

I use Facebook.

Why? Because Facebook has 2 billion people online. Which means, your market is already on there. Even if you think they aren't. 

What I do is run an ad that is strictly targeted to my ideal customer, so only the people who I know are in my niche market get to see the ads.

Just an ad that is very simple, very clean, and it offers something for free.

So for me I offer an online class - a really good, solid content class. And most of my students offer the same thing to their niche.

That ad leads people to a webpage offering a 45-minute automated webinar.

Here's what one of my sign up pages looks like:

The webinar is completely automated.

Which means, you do the work once. You never do it again.

Then at the end of the webinar, you don’t sell anything.

Instead you invite people to what I call, an Appointment To Enrol.

It’s a phone call where you can really talk to each other. Find out what their problems are. See if you can help them.

If you want to get lots of clients, then do this:

Give them some really good advice. Really help them out, and then at some point in the call it will become very obvious that they need to become a client of yours.

There’s a certain framework that works beautifully. But there's no hard sell, no special sales techniques, no fast talking.

It's just a conversation. But when done right, that conversation is one that the client really appreciates.

You'll end up one of the only people to have taken the time to actually understand their situation. People just want to be understood. Write this down:

THINK ABOUT THIS: What if you were to do 10 appointments a week and close two sales at $5,000?

That's $500,000 a year and you're only working around 10 hours a week.

That's what a different model can do for your business and it all comes down to having one marketing system just like the one I just showed you there.

STEP 2: HOW TO ATTRACT 50-CLIENTS IN 50-DAYS:

Sell the Result, Not Your Program

Here's what I mean by that.

You probably know of other coaches out there marketing themselves. And they usually sell what I call the most obvious things:

  • They sell their time (an hourly rate)
  • Or their pack of DVDs
  • Or their online training, etc

That's what everyone else does, right?

From now on, don't sell like that.

I remember when I started out. I actually used to be so focused on all the things that were included in my program because I’d loaded it with so much value.

Everything they wanted was there. It was just loaded. But here's what I found.

When people were umming and ahhing over whether to invest in my program, they would ask me questions like, "So what do I get again, Brett?”

“Okay, so I get 12 DVDs … thank you, and then you give me workbooks too… then what else do I get? Oh, I get webinars… yeah okay… then I get a strategy call, okay… a welcome call… and then a coaching call, okay.”

But here’s what I noticed:

When I told them more about all the things they “got” with my program…

…it didn't close any more sales!

Here’s something that will really surprise you:

When I sat down and analysed where I was making the most sales, the answer shocked me:

I made the most sales when prospects had DECIDED they wanted a solution.

So what you want to do is create what I call a transformational offer.

Now, here’s how to create a transformational offer. I'm going to use a diagram here so you'll remember it.

There are three parts to a transformational offer. The 1st part is that your prospect needs to get to the stage where they say “I need to stop doing what I'm doing.”

This is what I found when I was doing seminars around the world. I've been doing seminars since 2004, spoken in 17 countries, thousands upon thousands of people, and I've been at the back of the room talking to all the people who wanted to become my clients. I soon realized that I needed to help them decide they needed to change first.

If they hadn't decided they needed to change, they were never going to invest in my coaching.  

But you can’t “tell” people that they need to change.

They need to work out that for themselves. There’s a correct framework for helping them to get to this conclusion. But it HAS to be THEIR discovery.

That’s the 1 key, but that’s not enough. Because secondly, they need to realise that “now” is the time for the change.

Now, some people might say, "Yes. I know I need to change," but they haven't decided inside that it's now.

It's like three months away, or a year from now. So they will not become customers of your program. If they do happen to become customers, then they won't be good customers because they're not ready.

Then, thirdly, they need to realise that they need help from someone who knows better than they do.

Notice that THEY need to realise taht they need help. Not the other way around. If you tell them that they need your help, it’s a completely different conversation.

STEP 3: HOW TO ATTRACT 50-CLIENTS IN 50-DAYS:

Use A Scalable Model

Coaching has to be a win for you, and a win for your client.

See, you're often spending a good portion of your time with clients on repetitive activities.

Which means explaining how your systems work; what the data means that they're receiving, etc. It's that repetitive stuff which is not a good use of your time.

For them it's fascinating. For you, it's like, "I do this every single day about three or four times a day," repetitive.

The big problem of course is - you only have so many hours in a day.

That usually means that your income is very limited. You’ve only got so many hours in a day, and so you can only charge so much money.

But it doesn't have to be that way. Hitting anywhere near $1 million a year seems impossible because of the “hour” problem.

So how do you do it?

It involves using the brilliance of the internet. Why wouldn't you use this fantastic resource called the Internet that makes things so much easier when you know how to use it? Right?

Why would you not take advantage of that? And you can. Training groups via online video and written word works really well. Those two things work beautifully together.

Nearly anything that you would normally teach to somebody 1-on-1 can be done via online video and written word.

My best program of all is called Warp Speed where I was fortunate enough to generate $10 million over eight years in sales and, again, I wasn't "there" in the program.

So forget saying, "Well that’s good for you Brett, but that's not my niche so it wouldn’t work for me."

Just realize: It's all about the model.

It's not about you. Your industry isn't as different like you think it is. It's all about the model. Just be open to a different model.

Here's the model you need to use.

What you want to do is take the information that's in your head, the stuff that you do every day, the stuff you teach, the stuff you consult on, and break it into 8 sections.

Why eight? Because what I've found is life gets in the way after 8 weeks for your clients. 8 weeks is optimum.

You might say, "Brett, I need 10." Okay. Go for it.

But eight weeks works nice. It's a nice, little time period to get into your clients' space. They can absorb the information in a step-by-step way. So what you're going to do is for the 8-weeks of your course do a live class once-a-week.

Choose a day in the week. Let's say it's a Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. You choose that date as your live training day once-a-week for 8-weeks.

Now you might be thinking, "Brett, why do I have to do the classes LIVE? Why can’t I just pre-record them?"

Because what I find is if you don't do them LIVE, then you're going to record your first lesson, and you'll make mistakes. You'll um and you'll ahh, and you'll want to rerecord it.

You’ll mess up the recording software… or you’ll cough… or you’ll lose your place… or you’ll forget to mention something that you really wanted to.

You’ll say, "Well, it's not perfect – there’s no way I can let people see that!”

Then you’ll look at your presentation and you’ll say, “Oh, I'm not sure if I like how I’ve arranged my slides."

And then you’ll go and show it to a family member and they say, "Oh, it's boring or it's too bright or it's too dark."  Whatever, whatever, whatever.

And 3-months from now you will still not have launched.

Get my point??!!!

Whereas, if you say, "You know what? This is my start date. Here's the date. Here's the month. Here's the time. That's when I start." Then you are on the hook.

THE THING TO REMEMBER IS: You can start marketing it, even selling people into it straight away. Before you’ve even started you can sell places in your program. It’s just what pop stars do when they perform concerts – you’ve paid to attend their concert and they haven’t even selected their bass player yet!

So you start on that date and you teach every week for eight weeks - boom!

You're out there and you’re training. Effectively, you’ve got 8-weeks’ worth of training to do, but initially you only need to create the first week.

Reason why is that once you do the first LIVE class, you’ve got seven days to create week two’s content. And then after that, another seven days to create week three. In between each LIVE class, you have a week to create that next lesson.

Now, of course, you will have worked out what your 8 weeks of content will entail beforehand.

But you CREATE each of the lessons inside a week.

Now here’s what to do next…

Those classes go live for eight weeks, but then what you do is you record each one of them. Each lesson can be put on a website and automated, so that they are drip-fed.

Every person who joins your program after the first week of live training, can go straight into where the recorded versions are.

It's the same training, but it's just on a website.

“SO BRETT, WHAT DOES DRIP-FED MEAN?”

It means they get access to week one when they first join. Then the software can be set up so that in week two your second training is released and in week three, your third training is released, and so on.

No matter when someone joins, whether it's now, six months from now, 12 months from now, they all start at week one and then they progressively get access to week two, week three, on a week-by-week basis.

Great part about this is that you do the work once and you never have to touch it again.

Now, that's the training portion of your program. The second portion is a way that your students can get their questions answered.

So you're going to do 8-weeks of live Q&A too. Simply choose another day in the week. Let's say you choose a Thursday at 7:00 p.m.

It means that every Thursday at 7:00 p.m. you go live on the internet using a program like Zoom or Go-To-Webinar.

And this is where you answer all the questions that people have about your training.  This one is always done LIVE. So once a week, you're answering questions at a time that suits you, and people especially love that.

You know why? Because if they join Tony Robbins’ coaching program or Robert Kiyosaki’s coaching program, they don't get to work with Tony or Robert. They get palmed off to another coach.

But in your program, that’s not the case. They get to work with you, and they love that.

This means the world to your prospect. They get to ask you questions LIVE every week. It's awesome.

Now, the third thing you want to do is you want to have a private Facebook group where they can ask questions in between times.

So it's a private group. It takes 30-seconds to set up on Facebook. Don't sweat it. It's free and it's easy to do.

It’s a private group where only your folks get in there. Only your members get to see what you put in there and what you talk about. So your clients can ask all the questions they want, and it doesn't go live over the Internet.

It's all between the group. So you just login for around 15 minutes a day, maybe less. See if there's any questions for you. See if there's anything you need to comment on.

Your students will love it and they will adore you. They think, "This is so great. I've got this expert right her for me. It's perfect. I ask a question. He or she answers it."

They love that. On your side, you're working very low hours, quite enjoyable, and you're creating a great mastermind group for those clients as well that can all help each other.

So that's the model. That's what you need to do. All right?

It's the exact process that I use in my Fast Client Formula coaching program where I help coaches create incomes of $50,000-a-month and up.

It's the exact model. What I'm teaching you here is exactly what I do. I'm not teaching you anything I don't do myself.

I only teach what I actually do, so I am living proof of this system, and all my clients are living proof of this system as well.

How much can you sell that for?

You can sell that model for between $3,000 and $10,000.

And the thing to remember is you can have as many clients as you like with that model.

You can have 100, 200, 300, and it doesn't further impact your time.

You're still only working less than 10 hours a week. That's the key.

If you're at a hundred clients, let's say at $3,000. That's $300,000. Is that a little bit better than what you're doing right now, perhaps?

If it is, great. Just 100 clients earns you $300,000, working less than 10 hours a week.

If you want to change that to a $10,000 product now, then you’ve hit your million dollars. But it's still only a hundred clients.

To earn a great income, all you need is just 100 clients. You don't need thousands of clients. You don't need to market all over the world. You only need a hundred clients. Then you're done.

That is what a scalable system looks like. Would you agree?

Well, what now?
